'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the dramatic dying seconds of Swansea's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a spectator's eyewear following the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful effort from distance, and Cameron Burgess quickly converted the deflection before racing off toward the home end to revel in the moment, with fans mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This sealed an extraordinary comeback given the team had been behind 2-0 during the second half. During the delirium, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator trying to get our attention and Josh Key and I were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

That win booked a fourth-round game at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's volley from about long distance going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that range," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before shifting to right flank after they changed shape. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the player was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way his former team attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are very good but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they are adept at dictate and neutralize a game. You can think you're all right and then without warning they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and focus just to keep pace."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He established himself as a popular figure across a couple of years at Orient and has quickly done the same in south Wales. At Orient he reunited with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a loan at fourth-tier Salford, before he departed Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without serious challenge. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that maturation for both domestically and internationally, shining for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including two matches encounters against a football powerhouse. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

This represents a remarkable path for the player from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his father, his father, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's sole appearance for United came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to the host city, where they competed on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was closed owing to the weather of -15C. "It was a long trip and it was cold out there," he says, chuckling. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Leaving United

How hard was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "The decision proved quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I realized I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm hugely grateful for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I believed I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

New Environment

This occurs during the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at 5pm: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a small coach driven by team personnel, the transport team, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself a teammate, another squad member, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has got his license. It's nice to socialize with the guys but I'm planning to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and behind the wheel. His teammate likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on public transport after starting his journey at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
